How to file the Maryland annual report

  1. Know your deadline

April 15 each year. Put it in your calendar the day the company is formed — many states do not send paper reminders.

  2. Gather the details

Company name and state file number, principal office address, registered agent name and address, and the names and addresses of managers or members (officers and directors for a corporation).

  3. File with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT)

Most states accept the report online; some still allow mail. Pay the state fee by card or e-check and keep the confirmation.

  4. Or let Incofile file it

Order the filing, confirm the pre-filled details in your client portal, and we submit it, pay the state fee on your behalf and store the receipt. We also remind you before the next one.

What happens if you miss it?

Beyond the penalty itself, a late or missing report puts the company out of good standing: banks and partners can refuse to deal with it, and if it stays unfiled the state can administratively dissolve the company. Reinstatement is always more expensive than filing on time.

April 15 each year. It is filed every year. Incofile sends reminders before the deadline and can file it for you.

How much is the Maryland annual report fee?

The state fee is $300. If Incofile files for you, our service fee is $99 plus the state fee.

What happens if I file the Maryland annual report late?

Late filings typically attract a penalty, loss of good standing and, if ignored, administrative dissolution. Reinstatement costs more than filing on time — set a reminder or let Incofile handle it.

Who files the annual report — me or Incofile?

Either. You can file directly with the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT), or order Incofile's annual report filing and we prepare it, confirm the details with you, file it and store the confirmation in your client portal.

Is the annual report the same as my tax return?

No. The annual report keeps your company's record current with the state (addresses, agent, officers). Federal and state tax returns are separate filings with the IRS and the state revenue department.
